Wave a Banner

I learned something new from a friend of mine in England, she explained that my Union Jack Banner was called a bunting flag :)

I was pretty happy to make this for a good friend.  Maritime lighthouses for her!  I kept the vintage style of all my banners but incorporated images that were from out East!

Bunting flags or banners - they are a lot of fun to create.  Pick a theme and run with it.  They are a pretty way to decorate a wall, strung along a hutch, draped along a curtain rod or strung across a mantle!

Trolling for Treasure

I brake for junk :)

The fun is all in the hunt!!! Ohhh how much fun it is to go trolling for treasure and nothing says it better than a bunch of pictures showing all the great finds and furniture waiting for their "rebirth".

  a mismass of pews

never quite know what you are going to find - but it's always interesting and it's almost always a lot of work

Ohh my - I've been lucky recently with some great pieces - they are gonna hurt saying good bye to when I finish them so I promised myself I'd keep a few.  Decisions ... decisions :(

what a surprise when the drawer fell open :))))

Being able to see something's potential happens when your mind is open to possibilities.  When I feel like going out and exploring, I go out and explore.  That is when I know I have an open mind and the energy to look beyond what is there and see what could be.

October 2012 is going to be a busy month.  Many pieces of furniture all collected for transformations.  Some to be presented at my first collaberative efforts with a bunch of talented ladies at our Da Vintage Divas Harvest Sale October 31, 2012.  Here are some of the items that I'm trying to transform in three weeks.

I am seriously going to need to either clone myself or hire elves and unearth fairy dust ...

I'm am just about filled to the rafters with projects but how can you resist some of these great picking finds.  I try being restrained and go in with a budget.  Sometimes I have to put stuff back to get the piece I'm really after and other times can squeeze in everything.   Today's funny adventure was filled with a chipmunk that looked like a ferret came out to say hello to me.   Just kept coming closer and closer to me until I started to say noooo little chipmunk stay away - of course at the same time a guy was in there with a dog who heard chipmunk - lolol.  My worse fear is opening something and a mouse or spider popping out!

The Dark Side - Gothic, Skulls, Spooky and Strange

Full swing into October and the richer, deeper colours have been a part of many projects.  Thanksgiving just passed and Halloween is around the corner.  My gothic inspired pieces are in full swing.  I love grey as an all around colour and with punches of bold accent colours like red or purple with some silvers and golds, it is an elegant combination.  When offset with whites it's beautiful and calm.

completely unstaged - my cats love mirrors

Upcycling gone mad - a vintage bread box turned into a sugar skull storage box!

Everyone once in a while I love the macabre, the strange, quirky ... I also love gothic inspired furnishings and decor - not too over-the-top but just enough to stop the press.

Glazes and highlights - so cool Percy checking out the mirror - oooh spooky :))

I see a bad moon arising - CCR was quite inspiring - the song helped me design this spooky moonshine lantern cover out of an old grain feeder

Decoupage Diva

For the record, this funny description was given to me by a friend and client who enjoys many of my decoupage projects.

recycling old paper and newsprints - they make wonderful vintage looking mats and borders

my hundred + year old sign - made from architectural salvage from our home

Fifty Shades of Grey inspired Make-up Bag ... lol you don't see it from an old Samsonite

plain unfinished pine scroll projects

I have gone wild collecting pretty ceramic knobs for all my different projects!

A lot of people looking for interesting small tables and plant stands.  Here is a typical Bombay 1980s well constructed plant stand in it's ready for a transformation stage.
Three good coats of this colour I mixed up for a harvest table.  It's a blue-green-gray.  Really nice and I have a bit left over for some smaller pieces of furniture.

I found some pretty art deco trim from old scrapbook clipart - had fun on many projects - doing a bit of decoupaging on mattes and borders
